Thanks Internet Explorer… again…
There are only 2 reasons I ever use Internet Explorer.
- Some work-related websites require IE.
- I’m borrowing someone else’s computer and all they have is IE.
I used Firefox for years, then switched to Chrome earlier this year.
I use WordPress to power this blog. Long ago gave up on creating my own themes from scratch as I saw hundreds of wonderful and interesting designs far better than anything I was going to be able to come up with on my own. Totally happy with that. However, it did, unfortunately, lead to a bit of blind faith that these wonderful and interested designs would offer a satisfactory level of compatibility with not only my browsers of choice, but the more common (though famously less compliant/stable/user-friendly) Microsoft browser.
I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this.
Yesterday I was over at my parent’s house doing a bit of technical support on Mom’s laptop, when I decided to hop over to my blog. Don’t know why, but I was curious to see if everything looked the way I thought it would.
Nope.
Goddammit…
For now, I’m back at a very simple and basic theme that will hopefully look the same regardless of how one views it (assuming modern graphical browser of course).
Years ago I read a great list of rules of blogging by Tony Pierce. I’ve quoted rule #8 Â it before, and I’m going to do it again:
“don’t worry very much about the design of your blog. image is a fakeout.”
Hm. I think I need to read the rest of that list again as well… I’ve forgotten what the hell I’m doing here.
